2025 Racing Season Wrap-Up

The 2025 MBSC Racing Season delivered fantastic participation & exciting events both on and off the water. Thank you to all skippers, crew, race officers, volunteers, and supporters who made this season a success.

If you want to stay informed about events sign up to the Racing Email List or visit the Facebook Page.

Season Highlights

  • 20+ keelboats regularly competed in Wednesday Night and weekend racing.

  • Up to 14 centerboard boats hit the line for Monday Night Racing showing continued growth.

  • The Awards Banquet brought the teams together and raised funds to upgrade the club’s Albacore fleet.

  • Tecumseth Race
Although the wind didn’t cooperate, several boats persevered to finish the race and a great evening was held at Captain Roberts Table in Discovery Harbour.

  • 5.5m Fleet
Three 5.5m regattas were held this year:
    • Texas (April)
    • Midland (June & August)
Eight boats competed in the Classic and Evolution fleets, and interest continues to grow across Canada and the U.S.

  • Georgian Bay Regatta (GBR)
GBR saw a modern record of 48 boats, evenly split between Cruisers and Racers. Ten boats from MBSC competed in the event.
Next year’s GBR will start in Collingwood and finish in Midland.

Dinghy Racing

Adding a second Centerboard Regatta gave our dinghy sailors more opportunities to race. Turnout and feedback were excellent, and both events will return next year.

Race Committee Boat Refurbishment

Significant progress was made this year, including:

  • New deck installation

  • Full electrical upgrade

  • Automated solar charging

  • Next steps include rebuilding the upper structure and upgrading seating - A huge thanks to everyone who contributed.

2026 Season

The momentum continues with several new initiatives in planning for next year:

  • Full Moon Series - Night Racing

  • Long-Weekend Cruises to Georgian Bay harbours or other club's events (with possible activities such as theatre nights or whiskey sampling)

  • New Technology for Race Course Setting & Management to increase consistency, accuracy, and efficiency on the water

Stay tuned for updates.
