The Midland Bay Sailing Club is inviting sailors to take part in the Strawberry Moon Race & Cruise on Sunday, June 29, 2026. This event is the second installment in the club’s new Full Moon Race & Cruise Series, which combines racing, cruising, and social gatherings under some of the most beautiful nights of the summer.

Participants can choose to race the course competitively or simply cruise the same route at their own pace. The goal is simple: get more boats on the water and create memorable evenings on Georgian Bay.

One unique feature of this event is a planned staggered start. Boats may be assigned different start times based on their characteristics and expected speed, with the goal of having everyone finish closer to the same time. By bringing the fleet together at the finish, organizers hope to create a more social atmosphere and encourage sailors to continue the evening together after the event.

Following the race, participants are invited to join an informal social gathering. Depending on weather and participation, this may take the form of a raft-up on the water or a gathering back at the clubhouse. Final plans will be discussed at the skippers’ meeting before the start.

Because start times will be based on registrations, early registration is strongly encouraged. The sooner boats register, the easier it is for organizers to develop start times that help bring the fleet together at the finish.

The evening begins with a skippers’ meeting at 7:00 PM, followed by the first starts beginning at 8:00 PM.

Whether you’re racing, cruising, or simply looking for a reason to spend a summer evening on Georgian Bay, the Strawberry Moon Race & Cruise offers a unique opportunity to sail, socialize, and enjoy the bay under a spectacular full moon.
