Searching for the Gulf Stream – Preparing to cross the Atlantic on Opus

Four MBSC members are about to trade the familiar Georgian Bay shoreline for open ocean.

Departing the Club on May 30, the crew of Opus will make their way to Sydney, Nova Scotia before heading offshore and committing to a North Atlantic crossing.

Jeff Brook will share the story behind the voyage – from a childhood ambition to sail around the world to the practical realities of preparing his 1980 Cabo Rico 38, along with himself and crew, for an offshore crossing. He’ll also outline the plans for the summer and fall passage, culminating in arrival in Cartagena, Spain this November.
