Brigs Youth Sail Training is a charity that owns and operates the TS Playfair, a 72 foot brigantine tall ship that sails across the Great Lakes with youth 13-18 years old. Our program, founded in 1962, runs similarly to a summer camp bringing on youth for 3-12 day journeys during July and August, teaching them how to sail a traditionally rigged ship, all while developing their leadership and teamwork skills. Our crew, with exception of our Transport Canada licensed First Mate and Captain, are all between the ages of 13-18 as well! Our summer schedule can be found at: brigs.ca/summer_2021.
Our goal this summer is to engage with youth from regions across Ontario and allow them to experience life onboard a tall ship. Any youth can book a course through our website, no sailing experience is necessary, but our only requirement is that participants can swim. We also offer substantial financial assistance through our Pathfinder Access Fund, with support ranging from 10% to 100% of funding to cover participants’ journeys with us, depending on need.
It would be great if you could spread this opportunity to youth within your sailing club and community as we are going to spend a considerable amount of our summer up in Georgian Bay and the Midland area.
I have attached our outreach document outlining our summer courses and what we do to provide our unique tall ship experience.

I would love to hear your thoughts and potentially work with you to get our program into your community.
