MIDLAND BAY SAILING CLUB

Founded in 1967, Midland Bay Sailing Club is a non-profit organization dedicated to community service and providing local access to the waters of Georgian Bay.

We accommodate a range of sailing craft, from dinghies and small keelboats in the dry-sail area to larger keelboats in the slips. The club has been the focus of racing activity on southeastern Georgian Bay since its founding, but we also have a strong cruising component, and many weekend events combine both interests. Since 1974 the club has occupied its home at the end of Marina Park Avenue, on leased municipal land recovered from marsh through the industry of its membership. As a condition of our lease, we created and continue to maintain the channel that leads to the bay from the public launch ramp at Pete Peterson Park.

The club has a strong spirit of volunteerism. Members collectively provide at least 3,200 hours of volunteer service annually to club duties, and our programming serves the community at large. A highlight of our event calendar is the Sail for Hope, a fundraising event for the Canadian Cancer Society.
